Piers Morgan on Marbella – a quick summary

Introducing the show Piers Morgan described Marbella as place where the resident’s total wealth exceeds that of most South American countries. Possibly an exaggeration but a clear indicator of the side of Marbella the show was about to explore.

Less Costa del Crime and more Costa hell of a lot Marbella is stuffed with million pound villas, overflowing with luxury boats, oozing with flash cars and has more than a few resident billionaires to go with them.

Morgan kicked the show off with a drive down the Golden Mile, taking in the Marbella Club a famous resort that first attracted the rich and famous to Marbella back in the fifties. Next up on the stretch was the Mosque built by Saudia Arabian King Fahd as a gift to the locals followed shortly by the Saudia Royal summer home often referred to as the White House.

Dropping in at one of the most luxurious holiday homes on the Golden Mile the property manager reveals the £150,000 chandelier and carpets worth in excess of £2 million, complete with its own private hospital!

Next on Morgan’s agenda was a trip to the shops with former Birmingham City MD Karen Brady. Popping in to Fendi reveals a handbag worth €16,000!

Taking in a taste of the nightlife he heads to Linekers the bar owned by brother of former England player Gary Lineker. Gary explains how he’s making Marbella accessible to everyday folk as he encourages stag and hen groups to party the night away in Marbella.

It’s this side of Marbella that Morgan was keen to explore when he grilled self proclaimed PR guru Max Clifford about the reputation Marbella has earned itself in recent years. A reputation that Clifford himself was willing to clear up for a mere £25,000 per month.

Nothing comes cheap in Marbella so it was no surprise that the whistle stop tour of Marbella ended up in the hills beyond the coast at entrepreneur Klaas Zwart private race track which has cost him over £50million to develop including his own specially built supercar.
