There was an interesting article in today’s Telegraph about holidaymakers looking to swap homes with others in a bid to reduce holiday costs. Rather than spending money on renting a holiday villa or apartment, more families are prepared to swap their homes with other families overseas in an attempt to cut down on holiday spending.
I’ve heard about this market before but I don’t know anyone that’s tried it, however according to the article over 1.6 million people will undertake a swap this year alone.

If you were contacted by a good friend who was stuck in a hotel in Spain because they couldn’t settle the final bill as they’d lost their wallet would you be willing to help them out? Well the chances are that if they contacted you by email alarm bells would probably start to ring, for a start it’s hardly the fastest way to contact someone in an emergency. If that wasn’t enough to doubt the authenticity of the claim then perhaps the fact that the ‘good friend’ was actually stuck in Real Madrid rather than Madrid would give it away!

You eventually become resigned to the fact that you won’t ever see them again. So imagine the suprise if 10 years later that same person knocks on your door to introduce themseleves as your new neighbour. Well that’s exactly what happened to Ricky and Amirah, who were reintroduced to each other after first meeting in Spain over ten years ago, the two are now and item so it just goes to prove there are some fairy tail endings out there.

A recent survey by online holiday website sunshine.co.uk revealed some of the most bizarre complaints made by holidaymakers this year.
Some of the highlights included…
- A British family that told of their distress at the sunny weather in Portugal and complained that they were too “hot and sweaty” in their holiday clothes. Try wear shorts and a t-shirt!
- One irritated man complained at the number of plain black suitcases on the airport carousel, making it difficult for him to find his own plain black suitcase! He should have got one of those bright pink bands to put around it!
